HI,
NEphrotic syndrome is a condition in which the protein
excretion from the kidney ( albumin component) is way
above normal and hence the fluid seeps out of the
blood vessels ( due to the hydrostatic pressure
changes which pushes the fluid outside).
In children 3-6 years the condition is self limiting-
means with good supportive care it can be fully cured
( please note similar condition in adults will
progress to full blown kidney failure after some
time).
But care is needed during this episode
1. to prevent infections ( as treatment will be heavy
load of steroids).
2. fluid and electrolyte balance should be meticulous.
please tell which area is the pt from so that i can
suggest good hospitals ( pediatric).
