[India_Vision_2020] Seminar on "Right to Education - Actions Now" - MOST URGENT

Seminar on "Right to Education : Actions Now"

The Aspen Institute India (

www.aspenindia.org) , (an international non-profit organisation dedicated to in-depth discussion of global issues, development of leadership based on values, and a high-level exchange of opinions, information and values), Shiksha India (www.shikhsaindia.org & www.eshikshaindia.in (a major initiative by CII to take education to all schools using open source technology tools) and Institute of Quality, Bangalore (www.cii-iq@ciionline.org ) (promoted by CII and which has a major nationwide programmes for improving quality process within schools/colleges) are jointly arranging a special Seminar on "Right to Education : Actions Now".

We are happy to inform you that the Nobel Laureate Professor Amartya Sen has kindly agreed to be with us and deliver a Keynote Address.

The Seminar is being held at Kamal Mahal, Hotel Maurya, New Delhi on 19^th December 2007 starting from 9.00am – 5.00pm. The registration would start at 8:30am. There is no registration fee and attendance is by invitation only.

Focus of the Seminar will be predominantly around primary and school education including technology tools to increase the reach faster.The Seminar will capture several facets: policy issues to be resolved; implementation issues; best practices; e-tools; teacher education; gender issues; minorities, drop outs etc.

While it is not mandatory, it will increase the quality of the Seminar if you please send a brief one page write up as to what you consider are crucial issues and suggest also specific actions. We value all of these. Those available early may also be circulated. In any case, these will be studied as a follow-up of the Seminar and after a due process of selection, many of these write-ups will appear in the proceedings of the Seminar with due acknowledgement to you.

We would be grateful if you kindly   attend or nominate a person. It will be appreciated if somebody can share his experience and also send one page brief on his work.
