Subject: [India_Vision_2020] A Gandhian arrested again today for protesting against liquor
hi all
Yesterday, I wrote about Mr Sasi Perumal, Gandhian who was on fast for 24
days in Central Jail protesting against liquor sales. As I said earlier,
he was admitted to Government Hospital at Royapettah and was given IV
drips.
Meanwhile, he was released from judicial custody by the Police. They
informed him that somebody had filed a bail petition and got the bail for
him. Mr Sasi Perumal did not want to go on bail.
Today afternoon, he was discharged from the hospital. After getting
discharged from the hospital, he straight went to the Mahatma Gandhi statue
at Marina beach, Chennai and started fasting demanding prohibition and
stopping liquor sales, which affect the poorer sections of the people.
He started his fast at about 2.30 pm today. also went to the spot on
hearing the news. At about 3.30 pm, Police officials came to the spot and
arrested him again.
I also spoke to his son and some of the people from his village who were
there. They told me that he was determined to go on fast again, even after
arrest. His only demand is to get the Government agree for prohibition.
Please see the pictures taken by me during his fast and during his arrest.

At the time of writing this mail, he has been arrested and taken to the
Police station. I will update further.
