[India_Vision_2020] Help The Old people along the Road Side

I have been seeing a lot of old and unwell ppl on the road off late and lot of ppl begging as well..I got in touch with 'Helpage India'. They do a lot of good work and also have a 'elders help' toll free line for reporting on ppl who are unwell or destitute. But just like i thought they too said that a lot of ppl have families and beg for a living and would not come with them. They usually go and enquire and see and if the person is unwell, take them to the hospital and if they have dementia or something , they again see if they can be treated and then ask them if they are willing to stay in an old age home. They do real good work.. It takes a lot of hard work, resources,money, time, (and a fair amount of disappointment) to do what they do.

 

Those ppl from Helpage India work fast and give the feedback too which is very nice. The best part is that it only requires a phone call from a thoughtful person when an old helpless person is on the road( which is not an uncommon sight) and they take care of the rest. They even take care of the old person's medical needs which I think is superb. The person who calls to inform them does not even have to be there at the venue. They only have to give them the proper address. I think it is worth it even if we can make a difference in the life of one old homeless person.

 

Please do spread the MSG and tell ppl to call and speak to Felix ( PH- 98408 06114) or to call the toll free number 1253 ( which I think works from BSNL phones only) if they see anyone old who is ill or needs assistance.They have a tie up with the city police as well. 

 

All of us have a roof over our heads, clean food and ppl who care for us. We take all these things for granted and don't realise how it is for ppl who don't have it.

 

I know you must be very busy and you are probably doing this already but I thought I d mail you anyway.. So just keep in mind and tell ppl whenever and whereever you can. All they need to do is make a single call- that s it.
