Reducing use of Plastic Bags Dear friends of vision_2020, So far I have been a silent reader of the most interesting Mail exchanged between the Members. We at home in the family use large cotton/jute bags for shopping and say NO to put our purchase in plastics. I know many friends who do the same, but it is a very very small number. About 70-75 years back when I was a school student news-paper waste was used as a packing material by the shop-keepers. It was customary for many youngsters to make paper-bags of different size and give to shop-keepers and make a small earning for pocket money. At that time news-paper waste and gum were almost free, gum we used to pick-up from Babul trees. This can be taken-up by some of our group-members as a Project and involve young slum children, who usually work as rag-pickers in many Cities of India. Praful Bhavsar |
