Re: [India_Vision_2020] Anti-corruption mood of the nation - Govt.should shoot the message and not the messenger.

Dear All,

Yes, I agree with Mr.Srinivasan, the more Anna Hazare/Baba Ramadev, the more scope for mis-interpretation and consequent problems.

It would be great if Mr.Srinivasan, could convey this to Anna Hazare/Baba Ramadev

The whole nation is charged with 'anti-corruption mood', after seeing the exposure of various scams involving senior politicians and bureaucrats.  The recent satyagraha by Baba Ramdev added more anger against the corruption.

Police brutality against the unarmed innocent people in Ramleela Grounds has further  angered the people.  Anna Hazare has also showed his concern by sitting on a token fast at Rajghat.  Justification given by the Government is not accepted by the public with credibility.

From all the news reports and TV shows, one thing is very clear that the Government is desperate about the situation.  When Baba Ramdev landed at Delhi, five senior ministers received him which attracted media criticism.  After two days, they have 'discoverred' that his satyagraha was politically motivated with the support of RSS and BJP.  In the midnight, when thousands of people were sleeping, they brutally flushed them out violating all human rights and  values.  Hon'ble Supreme Court has taken this issue suo-moto as a human right violation.

Instead of shooting the message, now the Government is harping on shooting the messenger. They are trying to find one fault or other with Baba Ramdev and Anna Hazare.  The only 'sin' commited by them was to raise their voice against corruption and black money.  That is all.  It is immaterial who supports this movement or not.   Just because, opposition parties support this movement, the Government cannot brush this aside as politically motivated.   In the earlier instance, even Sonia Gandhi also pledged the support of Congress to Anna Hazare to fight against corruption.  In fact, all political parties should support this anti-corruption movement.

I have the following two observations to make:
On Government of India

1.  The Government wants to divert the attention to frivolous issues from the main issue of 'anti-corruption'.  Some of the TV channels are quite focussed and they focus only on the corruption issue.  Government should realise that such approach will anger the people and there will be more such movements on the street by the public.  Government may create more Anna Hazares and Baba Ramdevs.  Government should understand the mood of the people and address the issue forthwith, without diverting the issues.

On the anti-corruption leaders

2.  Because lot of TV channels are telecasting live, I find both Anna Hazare and Baba Ramdev continuously speak in the mike.  The more they speak, they invite more controversies and they fall into the trap of the Government, to divert the attention from the main issue.  They should adopt Gandhian methods of 'Mauna Vrita' (Silence) with fast. This was also suggested by us in this forum earlier.   Whatever they want to communicate, they can communicate in a statement as a demand.  This will stabilise the satyagraha focussing on the main issue of corruption.

Nation is in no mood to accept one more scam.  Enough is enough.  Our younger generation should inherit a corruption free India.  I invite views from the members as to how we can achieve this.  .
