Re: [India_Vision_2020] Impact of our actions - A small example

Jai hind,

Strong message from the team dream India. Develop & plant seeds of positive attitudes in children. This seeds will grow and branch out like banyan tree and bring more and more positive things towards it.

I agree and we each team will take this message deep in to their activities. Any activities need encouragement and real positive and great development really needs to be greatly appreciated.

Great job, well done. Let's grow together in the youths & children of India the seeds of positive ness and finally I am sure "WE CAN DO IT".

With happiness
Mani

It is indeed a pleasure... what you say is very true, there are many who underestimate the work and the impact that it is causing, but deep down, inside eveyr student's heart, a very positive, confident intent is growing, and that will help him or her grow up to be a good citizen and serve himself, his family, and our nation.

Last week, I happened to speak to one of the volunteers Poornima who conducts classes and organized this trip as well. Looks like as we were travelling back from circus show, couple of children sitting next to her posed a question, " Akka [ sister ], looks like the ticket cost is around 120rs, how do you manage to spend so much on each of us?". Poornima replied, " We know it is bit costly, but we would like to give you all the best and all of you to come up very well in life. There are many of our friends who are miles away but still want you all to come up in life. We just want to make sure you all come up good in life".

Hearing this, one of the kids replied next moment, "Akka, I feel so happy to have people like you. For sure, I will become a doctor and serve many poor people without collecting fee". The other said, " I would definitely help poor students whatever be the position am in future".

We would not know for sure if the kid would really become a doctor or so in future, but it is the spirit which we she uttered those words that counts. We might teach spoken English, Grammar, language or whatever, but it this seed " I am here to serve others" that would count for the future. [India_Vision_2020] Re: Read India initiative

Hi Friends,

I am new member to this group and glad to join with you all.

It is called a Montessori program where kids learn themselves with
very less help from teachers. No forcing the kids and they can learn
which ever they are very much interested to.

My daughter would be the best example. For a 5 year old, I tried to
show her and taught her the globe, but took long time for me to
teach her. Instead in her school, they are tracing the countries,
and then cutting it and push pin in the Atlas. Since she is doing
everything by herself, she is coming and teaching me many countries
and its details now. She is very proud that, she did it by herself.

Same way, she is learning maths, banking ,shapes, in/vertbrates,
mammals, hand craft working like making necklace, bracelets for her
age group.... many things i can list it her.

Main thing i should tell that, there won't be ranking or comparing
between others. This will bring more positive attitude for kids from
the beginning.

Thanks
Guna

[India_Vision_2020] Jan 09 issue of ezine on "Action 2020 - UnConference" - Youth joining together to act.

dear friends

Action 2020 - UnConference organised by India Vision online group,
brought together various youth organisations with an aim of supporting
the poor and downtrodden. The energy and enthusiasm exhibited by the
young working professionals and the students, representing 33
organisations was enormous. This event gave us the feeling that we
are yet to utilise the youth power fully.

Highlight of the event was the interaction of Dr Abdul Kalam, former
President of India with the young participants for nearly 20 minutes.

Jan 09 issue of ezine PR-e-Sense features the Action 2020
UnConference. Please read the attached ezine and share your feedback.

Re: [India_Vision_2020] Read India initiative - a nugget from Rajasthan exp!!!

Hello all,

i work for Pratham in Rajasthan, the organisation that started Read India Initiative. it is exciting to see that so many other org and individulas have joined the initiative and made this happen.

it is very exciting to read the comments made so far!!!

would like to share with you some exp on teachers motivation.
initially we were giving the training at Cluster level during one of the monthly meetings. we realised during the course that the required teacher was not coming and the training was being given to HM alone.

second, since it was just a training teachers thought it to be another burden and results can be imagined.

what we did next time onwards is in-school training or what some would say - on site training. here, we would showcase the teacher as to how to use the cards, other reading material and slowly when students get engrossed and start reading what-ever text they want, teachers get interested and get involved!

it is vital to showcase the methodology by doing it yourself and making a person believe that yes it works. only then, we, the humans tend to get excited and join the change and become agent of change. we found that teachers were then quiet forthcoming since they saw how easily things can happen and that it is not a burden.

as in the Lead India TV campaign, there are so many of us who are ready to chip in with their effort, all that we need to do is to take the initiative and commit ourselves for it first.

Thanks,

Rishi

Re: [India_Vision_2020] a little dream - docu film on Dr.Kalam

Dear Rishi

Thanks for your interest.

If we can reach some retail chain, it will be good.

But there are some practical difficulties. For example, we tried to display this DVD in Land Mark, Chennai. They are not accepting this product because we have only one product. They are looking for the supplier who should have at least 20 products. They advised us to go to some distributor. When we approach Distributor they ask us for exclusive distribution rights and unreasonable product discount. Also a distributor will not give attention to a single product. Though we have great content with us, this is the reality. Only big companies can reach out the market effectively.

But we can overcome this challenge by

1. Reaching this information to the masses effectively.
2. Creating some committed partners in retail network who inspired by seeing this product..

Two companies have come forward to support this idea.

1. 'Professional Couriers' has agreed to be our Logistics Partner. Now our DVDs are available in all Profesional Courier offices across Tamil Nadu. If any one is interested in getting a DVD, they can simply call this phone no. 044 - 42135901, 42135902. We'll arrange delivery through 'Professional Couriers'. Or Interested people can walk in any Professional Courier offices and collect the DVD. 'Professional Couriers' is trying this model in Tamil Nadu. If successful, they will extend this to other states also.

2. 'Ramraj Cotton' has agreed to advertise our product in TV media with their co-branding.

It is very crucial to reach out owners of retail chain than business managers. The owner will understand the cause and importance of the content.

Thank you
Regards
Dhanapal

Subject: Re: [India_Vision_2020] a little dream - docu film on Dr.Kalam

Dear Sir,

I think if we can talk to book-store chains like Crossword for the same, then oit can work. also, in every city there are some very popular book stores; also various options like reliance retail etc.

at personal level i would like to buy one for myself!
will try to see if there is a BIGGER order possible.
some times, big organisation would like to buy these and gift one each to their employees.

Regards,

Rishi
