[India_Vision_2020] May 2010 issue of ezine on 'Census 2011' [1 Attachment]

[Attachment(s) from Prime Point Srinivasan included below]

dear friends

We are pleased to release the 51st edition of ezine Pre-Sense (May 2010) on 'Census 2011'.  Currently India and US are undertaking the Census operations.  Indian Census is the second largest head count in the world.  This Census 2011 will also create National Population Register (NPR), an unique register to provide individual information about all the citizens.  This will be the first of its kind in the world and also the largest source of data on population in the world.

Unlike US, in India, every citizen or family is contacted personally by an enumerator to collect the data.  This National Population Register will also be used to provide Unique Identity Card for all the citaizens of India.

This edition brings out the exciting details about this mammoth operation.  This edition is Guest Edited by Ms R Janani, a student, who has just completed her PG in Media Science, under our scheme to involve young talents.   Editorial team places on record the efforts put in by her in contacting the officials and collecting the information.

We are confident that this edition will be of great interest to you.  Please send your comments and feedback to editor (at) corpezine.com.

We also  place on record the great support received from Dr C Chandramouli IAS, Registrar General of India and Census Commissioner and his senior officials in making this ezine. We appeal to you to share this ezine with others too, to create awareness about the Census 2011 operations.  We also appeal to you to kindly cooperate with enumerators by providing the details, required by them in both the phases.  This database will be of great help to the policy makers to design the future policies and plans for developing the Nation.

The ezine may also be downloaded from the following link

[India_Vision_2020] Performance of MPs in 15th Lok Sabha till the close of Budget session

dear friends

The Budget Session 2010 of 15th Lok Sbha was closed on 7th May 2010. Till the end of Budget Sessions, the current Lok Sabha had 86 sittings.  PRS India (www.prsindia.org), a Parliament Legislative Research organisation has now released the performance of all the Lok Sabha MPs in raising questions, private member bills and participation in debates.

Probably members may recall that our ezine Pre-Sense honoured top perming MPs on 1st May 2010, based on the position as at the end of March 2010.  We honoured Mr Hansraj Gangaram Ahir (Chandrapur, Maharashtra) for his No 1 position as at the end of March 2010.  Even at the end of Budget Session (as at 7th May 2010), he maintains the No 1 position.

Toppers - First two (overall)

Mr Hansraj (BJP MP) has participated 28 times in debates, introduced 9 private member bills and raised 317 questions, with a total tally of 354.

Mr Anand Rao Adsul (Shiv Sena MP) from Amravati, Maharashtra comes closely second with a total tally of 346 ( 10 debates and 336 questions).

Others under Top 10 (overall)

Pradeep Kumar Majhi, Congress MP from Orissa, (total tally 317)
Supriya Sule, NCP MP from Maharashtra (total tally 313)
Asaduddin Owaisi, AIMEIM Mp from Andhra, (total tally 312)
Jai Prakash Agarwal, Congress MP from Delhi, (Total tally 307)
S S Ramasubbu, Cong MP from Tamilnadu, (Total tally 303)
Ashok Kumar Rawat, BSP MP from UP, (total tally 288)
Wakchaure Bhausaheb Rajaram, Shiv Sena MP from Maharashtra (total tally 287)
Baijayant Jay Panda, BJD MP from Orissa, (total tally 281)

Other top performers exclusively

Debates:

Shailendra Kumar (SP MP from UP) has particpated 94 times in debates and tops in the Lok Sabha for participation in debates.  (His total tally is 153)

Private member bills

Mr Jai Prakash Agarwal, Cong MP from Delhi has stood first by  introducing 11 private member bills.  (Total tally 307)

Raising Questions

Anandrao Adsul and Hansraj Ahir who were mentioned as No 2 and No 1 earlier for overall position, have swaped their position in raising questions.  Adsul has stood first by raising 336 questions and Hansraj stood second by raising 317 questions. There is going to be a tough fight between these two MPs in future for securing No 1 position.

Attendance

9 MPs have secured 100^ attendance.  A special mention has to be made about Eknath Mahadeo Gaikwad, Cong MP from maharashtra  has secured 100% attendance and his tally is 264 for raising questions and debates.

General observation

Anandrao Adsul, Shailendra Kumar and Hansraj were also the top 10 performers in the 14th Lok Sabha.  Members may recall that we published the interviews of Adsul and Shailendra Kumar in our podcast and ezine last year.

If you observe, Maharashtra MPs have been performing better.  Let us all Congratulate all the performers  for their splendid achievement.

If any member or media person wants to get the full xl sheet, please write to me personally.  I will forward to them. .

Re: [India_Vision_2020] Re-Positioning the ezine shedding PR tag: PR-e-Sense becomes Pre-Sense

Dear Mr Srinivasan,

You are right. Nothing is permanent. Everything is transitory. Change for the better is 'the best' of doing things.

The job of PR people is all sundry. Their priorities are always based on the mood of the boss and the attitude of the organisation. They are over-burdened with multifarious activities these days. Perhaps, this is the reason for less participation in the discussions on PR related issues and more participation in other social issues.

PR as a sience and as an art requires further refinement.  This refinement is possible only when PR is associated with every other aspect of human relations.

Your shifting the focus from PR to general issues of public importance is welcome. From your point of view, it is reasonable.  Be it a newspaper or a radio or a TV channel, exclusives are a boredom and cater to only a particular class of people.  If a newspaper do not cover all aspects of social life, it is not sold and circulated.  Same shall be the situation for online discussion groups and ezines.

All the best to you, your team and the new Pre-sense.

Dear friends,

From the 51st edition onwards, our ezine will shed the PR tag and will be broad based to cover more audience, particularly youth.   The logo and layout will remain the same.  Presently, we spell and pronounce the ezine as PR-e-Sense (3 syllable).  From now on, it will be pronounced as Pre-Sense (two syllable).  There is no change in the spelling too.  Pre-Sense means sensing in advance.

When the ezine was started in March 2006, we wanted to focus more on PR related themes.  After the 25th edition, we started focusing on Corporate themes, with the thread  of communication.  Even though, we dedicated this ezine to PR and communication related themes, the involvement of PR professional was very very low.  Sadly more than 75 percent of the communication professionals do not find time to respond even to mails. Barring a few professionals, many do not take interest in sharing and contributing to the contents.

At the same time, the general themes like Education Loan, Business Communication, Honouring of Top performing MPs and UnSung Heroes, Indian Parliament, etc have all become popular at national level and created a big impact. These themes also benefitted many people.

Keeping the overall situation in mind, we are taking a conscious decision of shedding PR tag from the ezine, to make it broad based and to cover the larger audience.  This is not re-branding, but this is only re-positioning.  Probably, this is the only ezine in India, which has created so much of impact with involvement of many eminent people.  This change will give us more flexibility to cover more interesting themes beyond PR for the betterment of youth and the nation.  When we consulted privately many of the well wishers of ezine, we could get broadly a green signal for re-positioning.

We are also re constituting our editorial team to suit the change.  I, personally, strongly believe that we need to adopt changes as and when required.  Since its launch, this ezine also has adopted many changes in technology and contents to sync with time.  Same way, our ezine also will adopt changes to widen the audience and reach for better cause.  I am confident that members will continue to give us the support and patronage to the  ezine as usual.

I welcome suggestions for further improvement.
