[India_Vision_2020] Performance of our MPs in the 15th Lok Sbha till March 2010

dear friends

PRS Legislative research (www.prsindia.org) frequently publishes the performance of our Lok Sabha and the debates.  Members may recall, in Feb and March 2009, we had written about the performance of the members of 14th Lok Sabha and also published the interview of top performers.

We have since obtained the latest information about the performance of our MPs in Lok Sabha (updated till 16th March 2010).  We have uploaded this information in our prpoint site.

On a quick analysis of the performance of our MPs, we find ;

1.  Performance of MPs is adjudged by their participation  (a) in debates (b) in raising  private member bills and (c) in  raising questions.  95 MPs have a total  tally of more than 100 (participation in debates + private member bills + raising questions).  228 MPs have tally between 10 and 99. 115 MPs have less than 9 (single digit).  40  MPs have not opened their mouth.  (For ministers, the tally and attendance will not apply and hence they are excluded).

2.  Mr Hansraj Gangaram Ahir, BJP MP from Chandrapur (Maharshtra) ranks first with a total  tally of 293.   Mr Anandrao Adsul, Shiv Sena MP from Amravali (Maharashtra) comes second with a total  tally of 276.(Mr Adsul was one of the top performers in 14th Lok Sabha and we had carried his interview then).  Mr Jaiprakash Agarwal, Cong MP from North East Delhi comes third with a total tally of 263.  We congratulate them for their better performance and wish them to maintain the lead in future sessions.

3.  14 MPs have shown 100% attendance.  This includes Mr Gurudas Das Gupta (CPI) and Mr L K Advani (BJP).

4.  Mr Chandrasekhar Rao  (TRS) from Andhra Pradesh has not opened his mouth for raising his questions or participation in debates.  His attendance is 6%.  He ranks as the last person in the attendance.  As said earlier, Speaker, Deputy Speaker, Opposition Leader and Ministers will not sign the attendance.

5.  Among the performance of  big States, we should compliment Maharashtra.  The average participation per member of Maharashtra is 90.5 (debates + private bills + questions) and their average attendance is 73%.   (Himachal Pradesh participation score 111 and attendance 92% tops the list)

Let us all congratulate the top performers of 15th Lok Sabha.

You may download the performance of the MPs from the link given above and look at the performance of your MPs.  The Media also can analyse the performance of those MPs.

We have today personally spoken to Mr Hansraj Gangaram Ahir, Maharashtra MP over phone and congratulated him on behalf of our groups.  We have also sought his interview through email.  We will publish his interview in these columns, after we receive the reply.

We will continue to publish the performance after every session.

Re: [India_Vision_2020] March 10 issue of ezine on "Employee Retention"

Dear sir,
I appreciate the real and worth survey of opinion of bosses.Points are true indeed. What are the solutions? On the side, employers have same points .I feel that basically , we lost trust ,sincerity and honesty among most of us.The solution is simple. To get more friends, the best method is to be a good friend to all first.Likewise, if anyone is good by showing sincere, honest and trustworthy work and behaviour, he will live happily. To be happy, make others happy is the formula.
This model, we as a team, can make it successful if you give a chance in any company.Thanks.By Dr Selvarajan,Coimbatore.

dear friends

We are happy to release the 49th Edition of our ezine PR-e-Sense on the theme "Employee Retention".  Probably readers may recall that we conducted an online snap survey on the perception of employees during early March, to find out the reasons for employee attrition.   We have made this edition, based on the outcome of our survey.

In addition to the broad findings of the survey, we have also brought out the general perception of employees on their 'immediate bosses' and vice versa.

This issue will be an eye opener for both the management and the employees.  You may circulate this ezine among your contacts too.

This ezine may also be downloaded from the following link (pdf format 485 k)

We are also happy to inform that our next issue is the milestone 'Golden Jubilee edition' i.e. the 50th Edition.  We are carrying an exclusive interview with Dr A P J Abdul Kalam (Former President of India) on various interesting topics.  This special issue will be released in a simple function at Chennai on 1st May 2010  in the presence of many eminent personalities.  The theme of the 50th Edition is "UnSung Heroes".  .

[India_Vision_2020] Success at LHC-matter of pride for India

Dear all,

Today at 4:40 PM IST, proton radiations with the massive energy of 3.5 Tera Electron Volt(TeV) for the first time, successfully collided together in the Large Hadron Collider situated in CERN campus on the Swiss-French border. The apparatus for the experiment had been in the making for last 20 years and the efforts for the collision were being done since last year.

The data collected through this collision might be helpful in understanding the biggest mystery surrounding physicists all over the world, the mystery of formation of universe.
If we can discover how universe formed, we might discover better how nature works.
Thus, this event is of great scientific importance and would be helpful for all mankind.

Now, this event is also of specific importance and pride for all Indians. The reason for this is that, the specialized magnets, which are an integral part of the experiment, without which the collision would not have been possible were manufactured and supplied by the Raja Ramanna Center for Advance Technology(RRCAT), Indore(M.P.)

Thus, I feel, that this is not only a victory of CERN, but also a victory of Indian Scientific technology for which we all would feel proud. Thus, I congratulate you all on this achievement.

Being a physics lover, I was watching it all live on CERN website, but for those who wish to read more on this right now, please refer to this press release by CERN:

[India_Vision_2020] Dr Abdul Kalam's exclusive message to students

My letter to students writing exams

My dear young friends,

You are writing exams and expecting the results. My best wishes for your success.

I have one advice for all of you based on my own experience of writing various examinations. I wrote five important exams in my educational period - ESLC (VIIIth Class), SSLC (Xth Class), Intermediate (XIIth Class), BSc, DMIT (aeronautical engineering). Most of the time, the outcome was not as per my expectations. I had to even loose one year due to a general paper leakage.

Dear young friends, I am saying all this to you to bring in your mind that exams and exam results are not ultimate in life. If I don't perform properly for the first time, I re-write and succeed. Hence, friends, I suggest you:  success always brings happiness, but sometime we have to be prepared to go through some setback in examination due to many reasons. Dear young friends, I would like you to remember my teacher's advice; "in life, we have to be prepared to go through certain unexpected problems. The problem should not become our captain. Students like you, should become the captain of the problem, defeat the problem and succeed".

So, my dear young friends, the courage to succeed and courage to face unexpected problems are the unique qualities of the youth. If God is with us, who can be against? You will definitely succeed, go on trying. Do not get disheartened by temporary setbacks.  Let me remind you, my dear young friends, a famous poem;

"When you wish upon a star,

Makes no difference who you are.

Anything your heart desires,

Will ultimately come to you."

[India_Vision_2020] Call for proposals..South Asia Development Programme

Source: http://www.scotland.gov.uk/Topics/Government/International-Relations/internationaldevelopment/idffundingguidance/southasiadevprog/Q/editmode/on/forceupdate/on

South Asia Development Programme

Call for Applications

The Scottish Government International Development Team is pleased to open a funding round for the South Asia Development Programme.

The Scottish Government's purpose is to create a more successful country, with opportunities for all of Scotland to flourish, through increasing sustainable economic growth.

The vital role engagement across borders must play in our economic growth is articulated in our International Framework. This describes how our engagement is based on working in partnership with other nations, and sharing expertise and experience for mutual benefit.

Strengthening Scotland's relationship with South Asia is therefore a priority for us. Such engagement with countries like India and Pakistan, provides a key opportunity for Scotland in economic terms whilst recognising our historical links. We already benefit from the strong contribution that the South Asian community in Scotland makes to our culture, economy and identity - and we will continue to work with representatives of our Bangladeshi, Indian, Pakistani, Sri Lankan communities to help maximise the opportunities to build links.

As a responsible nation, Scotland will not drive its own economic growth while ignoring the reality that is global poverty. Developing countries are particularly vulnerable to changes in the global economic climate, hindering their efforts to work themselves out of poverty. The Scottish Government's International Development Policy published on 7 May 2008, focuses on poverty alleviation and contributing to the achievement of the MDGs. Within that policy, we announced our intention to develop a South Asia Development Programme. The Scottish Government is committed to building upon Scotland's links with South Asia by working together with communities in Scotland to support development, and in turn support an inclusive society in Scotland.

The new South Asia Development Programme covers international development work in Bangladesh, India, Pakistan and Sri Lanka and is supported by the Scottish Government's International Development Fund.

Applications for funding are now invited.

The key thematic priority for this programme is to address poverty alleviation and the MDGs through sustainable economic developmentSub-themes within this thematic priority are:

  • Gender equality and the empowerment of women, i.e. the project addresses the discrimination that exists against women and girls and aims to promote gender equality.
  • Capacity building and skills exchange, i.e. the project empowers communities through skills, knowledge or training.
  • Community-led approaches and initiatives which seek to build civil capacity, i.e. the project directly involves local communities and helps build civil capacity.

All projects are therefore expected to address sustainable economic development and to contribute to at least one of these sub-themes. A higher weighting will not be given to projects that contribute to more than one cross-cutting theme.

We are also interested in supporting a number of small innovation or pilot projects. This is intended to provide the opportunity to test new approaches and ideas and offer the potential to demonstrate Scotland's reputation for innovation. These projects too must be in the countries identified, address sustainable economic development and contribute to at least one of the sub themes.

Full details of the eligibility and assessment criteria and the guidance notes with the application form can be accessed in the following link.

Important Information

Information events, jointly hosted by the Scottish Government International Development Team will be held in Glasgow and Edinburgh.

The Glasgow event will take place on Wednesday 10 March, 2pm - 4pm at the Teacher Building, 14 St Enoch Square, Glasgow, G1 4DB.

The Edinburgh event will take place on Friday 12 March, 10am- 12am at Hanover Scotland, McDonald Rooms, 95 McDonald Road, Edinburgh, EH7 4NS.

[India_Vision_2020] Exchange4Media story on our ezine PR-e-Sense

dear friends

Exchange4Media, a leading media, advertising and marketing portal has today carried a story on our corporate ezine PR-e-Sense.  Please read the story:

Srinivasan
Editor in Chief
PR-e-Sense

Online magazine 'PR-e-Sense' all set release its Golden Jubilee issue
Judy Franko
March 18, 2010

'PR-e-Sense', an online magazine catering to the communication and corporate domain, is all set release its Golden Jubilee issue. In commemoration of its 50th edition, the magazine is planning to focus on 'unsung heroes' and carry a special interview of Dr APJ AbdulKalam. They also plan to have an offline function to honour some of the unsung heroes in the presence of eminent personalities.

According to K Srinivasan, Editor-in-Chief, 'PR-e-Sense', four years ago (on February 1, 2006 to be exact) a group of young professionals were discussing about the PR activities. "Suddenly, a spark came to our mind – why not start an 'ezine'? Within 15 minutes, we decided on the name – 'PR-e-Sense'. Though, we did not know the format, content, etc. at that time, we decided to launch the February 2006 issue within 10 days by the first week ofMarch 2006."

Srinivasan claimed that 'PR-e-Sense' was the only such magazine in the communication space. He added that the ezine had global reach and a lot of well-known global professionals were on its editorial board, who either guest edited or contributed regularly to the ezine.
All the ezines are integrated with a podcast called 'PodUniversal'. So far, 'PR-e-Sense' has covered one unique theme every month, such as media relations, drafting of press releases, internal communication, corporate blogging, corporate podcast, usage ofWikis in corporate, PR 2.0, corporate governance, the Right to Information Act, marketing communication, time management, and corporate arrogance, among several others. None of the topics had been repeated so far, Srinivasan maintained.

'PR-e-Sense' was the media partner for the fifth World PR Conference held in London recently. The Conference was organised by the Chartered Institute of Public Relations, London, an apex body for public relations professionals in Europe. The ezine also partnered another international PR conference held in Detroit in October 2008, wich was organised by the Public Relations Society of America.

"Though we passionately spend time in esearching the theme and producing the ezine, due to lack of marketing efforts, we are not able to market the ezine with advertisers. In the past two months, a leading PSU company has found the ezine to be a good advertising tool for global audience and has offered advertisements in three issues. Hope this will be a good beginning," he said.

Based on the feedback from the readers, the ezine had gone through complete makeover in terms of content, layout, design, and colour in the past few years, Srinivasan said, adding the ezine had more than 1 lakh subscribers globally.

dear friends

This is the copy of my mail addressed to Deputy Governor of RBI.  As already informed in the group,  the issue has been taken up at Rajya Sabha as Special Mention and we await response from Finance Minister.

We have also created a new blog on edu loan initiatives.  This blog will provide comprehensive information.

Dr K C Chakrabarty
Deputy Governor
Reserve Bank of India
Mumbia

Dear Dr Chakrabarty

As you are aware, India Vision Group has formed an Education Loan Task Force (ELTF) to guide highly deserving poor students on the edu loan procedures.

In the past one week, many leading magazines have published about bank loan procedures and the contact details of ELTF.  Last night around 11.30 pm, after my going to bed, one student by name Satish  from Vettavalam called me and cried that the Indian Bank was not disbursing the last instalment of his edu loan, as he  had not paid interest for some time.  Today (17th Mar) being the last day for remitting his final semester examination, he pleaded for help.  He came to know of our  contact through the magazines.  He also sent me the details through mail  (given below).

This student Satish is not having father and his mother is  working as a construction labour.  He secured good marks and got admission in BE in Engineering College.  Indian Bank had also sanctioned him the loan.  Till 7th semester, he has secured 76.4% without any arrears.  At the time of granting the loan, the bank had demanded a guarantor, which he has provided.

From the day of disbursement, the bank was insisting on the payment of monthly interest.  They refused to disburse the next semester instalment, if the interest was not paid.  Thus, so far, he was forced to pay Rs.46,800/-.  Since his mother is a labour, he sourced the money for payment of interest from outside borrowings too.

Now, he had to pay the final semester fees and exam fees.  The branch Manager insisted on payment of arrears of interest amounting to Rs.24,000/- without which he refused to disburse the final instalment.    Today being the last day, he got worried.  At this stage, one of his friends saw our ELTF details in a magazine and gave him our contact.

After getting the details form the student, today morning, I spoke to the Branch Manager of Indian Bank, Vettavalam branch.  When I enquired about how the bank insisted on a third party guarantee and payment of interest as pre condition to next disbursal, the manager said that the student offered guarantee voluntarily and paid interest also voluntarily.

It is something surprising that the bank officials do not understand the real intention of the Govt. and RBI.  How can a poor boy hailing from a cooly family can remit voluntarily, sourcing the money at higher interest.  Even in that case, the bank manager should have counselled him the proper rules.

We receive many such complaints from different poor people, about the insistance of the banks for payment of monthly interest.  This is causing a lot of worry to the brilliant poor boys.  Even two days back, at our initiative, Mr Rangarajan MP has also taken up as
Special Mention in the Rajya Sabha.

We shall be thankful if you could kindly investigate this issue and also similar issues of insisting on payment of interest from poor students.  We even go the extent of suggesting that officials who work against the interest of the poor people, violating the Government and RBI norms should be punished.  Unless RBI takes the 'whip' in its hand, such harassment  cannot be avoided.  The branch officials cannot be "more loyal to the kingdom, than the king himself".

What we have been pleading with the Banks is that they should follow the norms laid down by Government / RBI and IBA.  That is all.  Since you are highly passionate about helping the highly deserving, poor students, we have no choice excepting to approach you.

hi

The interest portion of the loan need not be paid to the bank.  The bank will calculate at simple interest and the interest will be added to the principal after completion of the studies.

As per guidelines, the bank should not insist on payment of interest during the study period and they do not have any right to stop the loan.

If you can give us the details of loan and the name of the branch, we will take up with their head office and also to RBI for solution.

please give full details of the loan and what the bank was insisting on.  Please also inform us the name of the branch and their contact n umber.

you may contact us over mobile 91766 50273
