[India_Vision_2020] Performance of our MPs in the 15th Lok Sbha till March 2010

dear friends

PRS Legislative research (www.prsindia.org) frequently publishes the performance of our Lok Sabha and the debates.  Members may recall, in Feb and March 2009, we had written about the performance of the members of 14th Lok Sabha and also published the interview of top performers.

We have since obtained the latest information about the performance of our MPs in Lok Sabha (updated till 16th March 2010).  We have uploaded this information in our prpoint site.

On a quick analysis of the performance of our MPs, we find ;

1.  Performance of MPs is adjudged by their participation  (a) in debates (b) in raising  private member bills and (c) in  raising questions.  95 MPs have a total  tally of more than 100 (participation in debates + private member bills + raising questions).  228 MPs have tally between 10 and 99. 115 MPs have less than 9 (single digit).  40  MPs have not opened their mouth.  (For ministers, the tally and attendance will not apply and hence they are excluded).

2.  Mr Hansraj Gangaram Ahir, BJP MP from Chandrapur (Maharshtra) ranks first with a total  tally of 293.   Mr Anandrao Adsul, Shiv Sena MP from Amravali (Maharashtra) comes second with a total  tally of 276.(Mr Adsul was one of the top performers in 14th Lok Sabha and we had carried his interview then).  Mr Jaiprakash Agarwal, Cong MP from North East Delhi comes third with a total tally of 263.  We congratulate them for their better performance and wish them to maintain the lead in future sessions.

3.  14 MPs have shown 100% attendance.  This includes Mr Gurudas Das Gupta (CPI) and Mr L K Advani (BJP).

4.  Mr Chandrasekhar Rao  (TRS) from Andhra Pradesh has not opened his mouth for raising his questions or participation in debates.  His attendance is 6%.  He ranks as the last person in the attendance.  As said earlier, Speaker, Deputy Speaker, Opposition Leader and Ministers will not sign the attendance.

5.  Among the performance of  big States, we should compliment Maharashtra.  The average participation per member of Maharashtra is 90.5 (debates + private bills + questions) and their average attendance is 73%.   (Himachal Pradesh participation score 111 and attendance 92% tops the list)

Let us all congratulate the top performers of 15th Lok Sabha.

You may download the performance of the MPs from the link given above and look at the performance of your MPs.  The Media also can analyse the performance of those MPs.

We have today personally spoken to Mr Hansraj Gangaram Ahir, Maharashtra MP over phone and congratulated him on behalf of our groups.  We have also sought his interview through email.  We will publish his interview in these columns, after we receive the reply.

We will continue to publish the performance after every session.
