Re: [India_Vision_2020] Creating awareness about 'special children' - Any NGOs in this group?

Dear Mr Srinivasan,

These are really special children. Almighty sent them down here to show all of us, how his every creation can play the role assigned to her/him and can face challenges in life in spite of physical deformities and mental derailments.

May God bless you, Ms Gayathri Nayak.

Ms Gayathri Nayak, a journalism student of Chennai City college (one of our members in this group) and her friends have made a good documentary on 'special children'.  These children need some extra support.  They have lot of hidden talents in them.  If properly explored, they can become great personalities.

Is there any NGO in our group, who are taking care of these special children.  I will be thankful if they could kindly share some of their experiences.  They can also suggest how others can help such special children.

Please watch this 6 minute documentary produced by Ms Gayathri Nayak.  She has brought out nicely the concept and their hidden talents.

[India_Vision_2020] Hi..........Indians

This is a real story of a young college girl who passed away last month
in Chandigarh. Her name was Priya. She was hit by a truck.

She was working in a call centre. She has a boy friend named Shankar.
Both of them are true lovers. They always hang on the phone. You can
never see her without her handphone. In fact she also changed
her phone
from Airtel to Hutch, so both of them can be on the same network, and
save on the cost.

She spends half of the day talking with shankar. Priya's family knows
about their relationship. Shankar is very close with Priya's family.
(just imagine their love) . Before she passed away shealways told her
friends "If I pass away please burn me with my handphone"
she also said the same thing to her parents.

After her death, people cudnt carry her body, I was there. A lot of them
tried to do so but still cant , everybody including me, had tried to
carry the body, the result is still the same. Eventually, they called a
person who know to one of their neighbours, who can speak with the soul
of dead person, who is a friend of her father.

He took a stick and started speaking to himself slowly.

After a few minutes, he said "this girl misses something here." Then her
friends told that person about her intentions to burn her with her
phone.
He then opened the grave box and place her phone and sim card inside the
casket. After that they tried to carry the body. It could be moved and
they carried it into the van easily.

All of us were shocked. Priya's parents did not inform Shankar that
Priya had passed away.

After 2 weeks Shankar called Priya's mom......

Shankar :...."Aunty, I'm coming home today. Cook something nice for
me.
Dont tell Priya that I'm coming home today, I wanna surprise her."
Her mother replied....."You come home first, I wanna tell you
something very important."

After he came, they told him the truth about Priya. Shankar thinks
that they were playing a fool. He was laughing and said "dont try to
fool me - tell Priya to come out, i have a gift for her. Please stop
this nonsense".

Then they show him the original death certificate to him.
They gave him proof to make him believe. (Shankar started to sweat)
He
said... "Its not true. We spoke yesterday. She still calls me.
Shankar was shaking.

Suddenly, Shankar's phone rang. "see this is from Priya, see
this...."
he showed the phone to priya's family. all of them told him to
answer. he talked using the loudspeaker mode.

All of them heard his conversation.

Loud and clear, no cross lines, no humming.

It is the actual voice of Priya & there is no way others could use
her
sim card since it is nailed.

Inside the grave box they were so shocked and asked for the same
person's
(who can speak with the soul of deal perosns) help again. He brought
his
master to solve this matter.

He & his master

worked for 5 hours.

Then they discovered one thing which really shocked
them………

Ahmedabad for a noble cause.

(Moderator's Note : Dr Kalam is not in Chennai. He resides only at Delhi. He is always on tour. Presently, he is on US tour. You can send a message to him through www.abdulkalam.com. There is no other way you can reach him )

[India_Vision_2020] Re: Dr. SB Misra, Indian geologist honoured by Canada

dear friends

You may recall that we sent out the following message on 19th September in this group about the great achievement of Dr S B Misra, who has made every Indian proud.  We were looking for contact details.

On seeing this mail through google search, Dr Misra's son Mr Neelsh from delhi contacted me and furnished the contact details.  Mr Neelesh  has also become the member of the group.

Dr Misra  and his wife are now at Lucknow involving themselves in  educating  the poor village children.  I could contact him over phone today morning and conveyed  him our heartfelt congratulations and greetings on behalf of the group.  With his permission, i have added him to our group.

His simplicity and humble way of accepting such a great International honour impressed me very much.  I will be recording his podcast interview on the coming sunday over phone for the benefit of youngsters.

Dr Misra Sab  :  We all welcome you to this group.  We salute you for the International honour given to you by Canadian Government.  As a fellow Indian, we are proud of you, Sir.

565-mn-yr-old fossil named after Indian geologist*

Toronto, Sept. 18 (PTI): A retired Indian geologist who made an
internationally renowned discovery in the 1960s in Canada, then gave
up his
North American career to build a village school in India, has received a
rare honour -- a 565-million- year- old fossil has been named after him.

Canadian government ministers, bureaucrats and scientists attended a
recent
meeting in Canada's Portugal Cove South city where two top geologists
-- Guy
Narbonne from Canada and Jim Gehling from Australia -- announced the new
name of one of the many fossils discovered by Dr S B Misra in the late
1960s. Misra's discovery, the oldest record of multicellular life on
earth,
shall now be called Fractofusus misrai.

Mistaken Point, the site of Misra's discovery, has since been declared a
protected area by the government of Canada and no damage to the rocks and
fossils is allowed any more. Geo-scientists from Canada are making all
efforts to get the site declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

At the ceremony, Narbonne read out an e-mail sent by him to Misra which
said, "Your name appears as the discoverer of the Mistaken Point
fossils...(it) will be seen by thousands of people every summer."

Narbonne wrote from the Queen's University at Ontario, Canada, "You should
feel quite pleased at the huge role you played in discovering this
world-famous fossil site."

[India_Vision_2020] Rule 49 O of the Conduct of Election Rules, 1961: The Proposed Electoral Reform.

15.10.2007

Hi All,

I have visited the official site of the Election Commission of India at - http://eci.gov.in/ and downloaded the document from Election Laws & ECI Instructions / Proposed Electoral Reforms.

Shri TS krishna Murthy, Chief Election Commissioner of India has proposed this Electoral Reform to the Hon. PM Dr. Manmohan Singh on July 5th, 2004 in two parts. Part 1 with 15 proposals for reform and Part 2 with 7 pending proposals.

Part 1 / Topic 7 describes "Negative/Neutral Voting". ( Reproduced as under )

---------------------------------------------------------
7. NEGATIVE / NEUTRAL VOTING

The Commission has received proposals from a very large number of individuals and organizations that there should be a provision enabling a voter to reject all the candidates in the constituency if he does not find them suitable. In the voting using the conventional ballot paper and ballot boxes, an elector can drop the ballot paper without marking his vote against any of the candidates, if he chooses so. However, in the voting using the Electronic Voting Machines, such a facility is not
available to the voter. Although, Rule 49 O of the Conduct of Election Rules, 1961 provides that an elector may refuse to vote after he has been identified and necessary entries made in the Register of Electors and the marked copy of the electoral roll, the secrecy of voting is not protected here inasmuch as the polling officials and the polling agents in the polling station get to know about the decision of such a voter.

The Commission recommends that the law should be amended to specifically provide for negative / neutral voting. For this purpose, Rules 22 and 49B of the Conduct of Election Rules, 1961 may be suitably amended adding a proviso that in the ballot paper and the
particulars on the ballot unit, in the column relating to names of candidates, after the entry relating to the last candidate, there shall be a column .None of the above., to enable a voter to reject all the candidates, if he chooses so. Such a proposal was earlier made by the Commission in 2001 (vide letter dated 10.12.2001).

(A petition by the People.s Union for Civil Liberties seeking such a provision filed at the time of the recent general elections is pending before the Hon.ble Supreme Court)
-----------------------------------------------------

I am attaching a pdf file - PROPOSED_ELECTORAL_REFORMS.pdf and forwarding this mail to the members of virtual community at Future of India @ yahoo / google, margdarshan @ yahoo, premierseminars @ yahoo, akhiltv @ yahoo for the ready reference.

I am sure members will get information and inspired to spread the word.
