Hi
We are planning a cover story on 'National media Policy' in the July issue of our eMagazine PreSense. Presently, India does not have any Media Policy.
In India, presently we have print media, broadcast media, internet media to distribute news and other contents. While, we have regulators like TRAI for technology (carriers), we do not have any regulatory body for content.
Press Council of India (PCI) for print media, though a statutory body, has only an advisory role. News Broadcasting Authority of India (NBSA) is a self regulatory body set by broadcasters. Online Curated Content Providers are on the increase. They also have a self regulatory code.
All these self regulatory bodies have no control over erring media. Today, because of competition, lot of fake news, false information are generated leading to communal tension and dislocation. There is a general feeling that 'freedom of expression' is being more misused in India without any accountability.
With this background, PreSense plans to write a cover story on the need of National Media Policy, which has an overall authority on all media. If required we also want to take up in the Parliament through MPs who are associated with us.
I request members to share their views on the feasibility of National Media Policy and the areas to be covered, along with consequential impact. It should bring 'freedom with responsibility'. .
You may kindly send your views before 25th July evening to my mail id editor@corpezine.com or to my WhatsApp 9176650273. Please also share your identity and contact. If required I will contact.
