[India_Vision_2020] Making of ezine - Inviting students to be part of ezine

hi all

As you know, our ezine PreSense is being published for the past 66 months successfully.  We will be releasing the 67th edition tomorrow with interesting contents.  Many eminent people including Dr Abdul Kalam have given exclusive interviews to our ezine.

Our Ezine has won several awards and for the first time in the world, this ezine was a media partner for the global events of PRSA (US) and CIPR (London).

Nowadays, many companies have started publishing ezine for their internal and external circulation.  Many corpcom professionals also are writing to us seeking the suggestion.  Hence, we decided to involve communication, PR, journalism students of India as part of editorial team from next month.

1.  They should be students in any college in India studying PR, Journalism, Communication or related subject. (To give them exposure for their future employment in PR Agencies or Corpcom departments).

2.  Selected students will be asked to write articles based on the ezine format under the relevant sections.  Recognition  will be given to them by publishing  their picture as part of Editorial Team.

3.  Maximum, two students will be permitted to be part of the ezine in a single month.  They can continue for two months, so that others will also get opportunity.  The students will be involved in the making of the ezine of that month, under our guidance.

Interested students may write to me personally at editor@corpezine.com copy to prpoint@gmail.com.

Students who are interested to avail this opportunity please contact me before 5th November 2012.  We will decide based on first come first served.

All the past issues may be downloaded from www.corpezine.com.  For the present format, please see the Sep 2012 issue of Oct 2012 issue to be released tomorrow.

[India_Vision_2020] 50th Anniversary of India-China War (1962) - Jai Jawan

hi all

On this day 50 years back (20th October 1962), Chinese launched simultaneous offensives in Ladakh and across the McMahon Line.  At that time, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru was the Prime Minister and Mr V K Krishna Menon was the Defense Minister.  The war ended when the Chinese declared a ceasefire on 21st November 1962.  The border dispute continues till now.

India has not fared well in this war.  While China was fighting with 80,000 soldiers, India was fighting only with around 12,000 soldiers.  At the end of the war, China occupied  around 50,000 Sq.KM of Indian territory and the dispute is still not resolved.  Kailash and Mansarovar which were once part of India after Independence are now in the possession of China.

India lost around 1600 soldiers.  Nearly 1400 soldiers were wounded.  Around 1700 soldiers were missing.  4000 soldiers were captured by China as ;Prisoners of War' and later released.

Many reasons are attributed to the failure of India in the war.  Though Pandit Nehru was the PM, the political leadership and planning for Defence preparedness were reported to be lacking.  Many army officers, who were part of Indian army then allege that Indian Army was not equipped  with enough weapons and jawans. Though Indian army had enough war experience during the world war, they were made to fail, due to poor planning and leadership by the political system.  In fact, during that time, the Government reported to have reduced the strength from 2.80 lakhs to 1.50 lakhs.

1962 war  has taught us many lessons.  Some of the Commission reports on the failure of India are not  made public even after 50 years, for the reason that it may embarrass many of the leaders who were in the Government then.

In the October 2012 issue of our ezine PreSense, we will be featuring this 1962 war with more details and rare pictures.  The ezine will be released on 1st November 2012.

Let us pay respect and homage to the Jawans who lost their lives in the 1962 war to secure the Indian borders.

[India_Vision_2020] Sansad Ratna Award 2012 presented to Mr Hansraj Ahir at Chandrapur

Dear friends

Prime Point Foundation and the ezine PreSense recognise top performing outstanding Parliamentarians every year with Sansad Ratna Award for the past three years, based on their performance in the Lok Sabha till the end of 31st March of that year.  Four MPs viz. Aandrao Adsul (Maharashtra), Hansraj Ahir (Maharashtra), S S Ramasubbu (Tamilnadu and Arjun Ram Meghwal (Rajasthan) were selected for the Sansad Ratna Award 2012.  The  function was held at IIT Madras in April 2012 and Mr Gopalakrishna Gandhi (grand son of Mahatma Gandhi and Rajaji), Former Governor of West Bengal presented the Awards to the MPs.  At that time, Mr Hansraj Ahir could not attend due to unforeseen circumstances.  He addressed the audience then over mobile from Nagpur.  At that time, we promised him that we would handover the Award in his constituency at a later date.

A function was organised at Chandrapur by the citizens of the city on 10th October 2012.  Mr Murugan Muthiah (Convenor of Action 2020) and myself visited Chandrapur and presented the Awards to Mr Hansraj Ahir in the presence of galaxy of eminent people of the city.  Nearly 1000 people attended the function.

Mr Shantaram Potdukhe, Former Minister and a  respected senior Congress Leader of Vidharba Region presided over the function, though Mr Hansraj is a BJP MP.  Many academicians and professionals participated in the event.  I could appreciate the highest political maturity shown by Vidharba Region leaders.  To add to the dignity, Mr Hansraj also touched the feet of Mr Shantaram seeking his blessings.

When I gave the introduction, I said that Maharashtra MPs put together performed well in the Lok Sabha during the current 15th Lok Sabha.  As against the national average of 244 points for the total of debates, questions, and private bills, Maharashtra MPs scored 378.3 till the end of Monsoon session.    I also said that till the end of monsoon session, the total score of debates, questions and private bills in the 15th Lok Sabha amounted to 1,16,698, as against the score of 1,03,712 for the whole five years of 14th Lok Sabha.  Within 3 years and that too with two sessions not functioning fully, this Lok Sabha has performed better than the previous Lok Sabha.

Mr Hansraj, while responding to the Award said that NGOs like Prime Point Foundation were continuously monitoring the performance of the MPs and hence the MPs were  under pressure to perform better in the Lok Sabha.  He also appreciated the recognition for performing MPs with Sansad Ratna Awards triggered the performance of the Parliamentarians and motivated them to do better.

It may be noted that Mr Hansraj Ahir is the whistle blower of the coal-scam, which is now rocking the country.  This is the third year in succession, he is getting the Award for outstanding performance in the Lok Sabha.

The full details including photographs are available in the following link.

[Attachment(s) from Prime Point Srinivasan included below]

hi all

We are pleased to release the 66th edition of ezine PreSense (Sep 2012).  This ezine contains broadly the following:

1.  Cover story:  Ever cheerful 'Amul Girl' wept for the first time in early Sep 2012 to mourn the demise of Dr Varghese Kurien, Milkman of India. Triambak's touching cartoon also adds value to the cover story.

2.  Under historical events relating to September, we have featured World War II, which commenced on 1st Sep 1939 and ended on 2nd Sep 1945.  Please look at the rare pictures.

3.  From this issue, we are including a new section titled "Ancient Indian Wisdom".  Every month, we will be bringing out the greatness of our ancient wisdom.  In this issue, we have brought out how Rig Veda was used in the first phonograph, invented by Graham Bell.

4.  Under 'Social issues', we have featured  the health hazard due to  the bad manners of using saliva for turning pages and spitting on the public places.

5.  Under 'Ignited Minds', we have featured Mr Aum Murugan, a Railway employee who has conducted more than 700 eye camps and health camps, besides providing vocational training to 3000 persons annually.

6.  Recent decision of the Government of India to allow FDI in muti-brand retail has generated lot of debates in India. We have featured this issue under our controversy section.

As usual, we have also included Dr Kalam's inspiring quotes, articles from the archives of the ezine, etc.    We are confident that you will continue to enjoy this ezine.  Please share your feedback.
