[India_Vision_2020] Fwd: Major General Swaminathan is no more.

I deeply regret to inform our members that Maj. Gen (Retd) Swaminathan (74), Advisor to Dr Abdul Kalam passed away today afternoon at 2.15 pm.  Dr Kalam also paid his last respects to the departed soul.

Maj. Gen. Swaminathan was a great friend of our India Vision Group and the activities of our members.  I had the opportunity of interacting with him on several occassions on the activities of Action 2020 members.  

Whenever Action 2020 team members met Dr Abdul Kalam earlier, Maj Gen. Swaminathan used to interact with me to prepare the background materials.  On several occassions, he has also guided our members.

He was closely working with Dr Abdul Kalam on many of the visionary projects.  He functioned as a great friend of Dr Kalam in his office.

On behalf of India Vision Group, Action 2020 team, let us pray for his soul to rest in peace.

Personally speaking, our group also lost a great friend and guide.

Dear friends

Dr APJ Abdulkalam's advisor Maj. Gen (Retd) R Swaminathan (74) died today 15 Feb 13 by 2.15 pm at Army Research and Referral hospital, New Delhi. He breadthed lost due to his illness. Dr Kalam paid his last respects and placed a wreath on his body.

Dr Kalam's message

"Today is a sad day for me. I lost a very good friend of mine Maj. Gen R Swaminathan. May his soul rest in peace. - Kalam".

As a friend, I had an opportunity to work with him and we both had associated together for more than a decade. It is a personal loss for all of us. He is a knowledge repository,  a man of honesty and integrity, fasinating memory, researching and analysing mind, a troubleshootor, contributed for number of national defence projects as a scientist and a Chief Controller of defence R&D, worked with Dr Kalam's developed india 2020 vision and PURA missions, energy independence and biofuel missions as a OSD (R) to the 11th President of India Dr Kalam.  More than anything else he is positive force and was like a fatherly figure for all of us. It is great and personal loss for evey one of us. May his soul rest in peace.
