It was interesting to read Dr Edward Raj's posting. I would try to visit the centre when i visit ooty next.
Dear friends,
I would like to convey my sincere wishes to all the
members of this group. I hope, I will learn a lot from
the members of this esteemed group.
I wrote and published many article on science at
various newspapers and magazines, besides contributing
to about dozen research papers.
Basically, I was working for Indian Space Research
Organisation, Bangalore, as a scientist, and about
three years ago, I came to Ooty, mainly to establish
an observatory, that can be used by school children,
college students and private astronomers to pursue
their interests in Astronomy.
You can see more about me and my project at:

Though I met several road blocks, this project is
up. My this project will uplift this part of science.
Since the telescope needs to be installed in a
remote place - where the artificial lights are minimal
- the site chosen for this observatory is far away
from the human settlements. This place is about 30 kms
away from the famous holiday destination, Ooty.
My main aim in participating this group is to
learn more about the ideas pertaining to develop India
a super power by 2020AD.
With warm regards,
A.D.Edward Raj
