Thanks,Srinivasan.Once when I got sucha mail asking me to confirm details or my mail address will be deleted, I sent back a mail asking them to let me know how do I assure myself it is from gmail team,and how do I know that they are authorzed to scrutinize my details.I did not get a response. A bangalroe based entity tried a trick on me two years back.They arranged aconf call with my credit card bank and the credit card Rep repeated details of my card, asked for my address etc for confrimation.MY card was debited by a huge amout as fees ,that I had not authorized.Later it turned out that there was no genuine confcall with my credit card bankand the latter had also been defrauded.Thanks to the bank,I got back the money after two and half years. Today, I received the following mail purported to be from gmail team. The mail looks like a genuine mail. Anybody may get cheated with this type of mail and may part with their gmail id and password.
This is a typical 'phishing' exercise. If you part with gmail id or pw, your account may be captured by them and used for illegal purposes.
CAUTION: Whenever you receive any such mail purported to be from your bank, gmail, yahoo, hotmail or msn, etc, please do not repond to them and do not share your id and pw with them.
Always make a habit of opening the genuine site of your bank, gmail, yahoo, etc in a separate browser and then operate your account. Please note no bank or no mail provider will ask for your id and pw through mail. I know many instances of people sharing their id and pw and suffering later.
This mail is issued only in public interest. You may forward to others.
