[India_Vision_2020] Annual Awards 2011 - 'Lok Sabha Heroes' and ' UnSung Heroes'

As already announced in this group, Prime Point Foundation, with the support of India Vision Group and Action 2020 Team will honour the top performing Lok Sabha Members and UnSung Heroes on Saturday the 7th May 2011 at Chennai.  The Award winners are:

Lok Sabha Heroes - Top performers in the 15th Lok Sabha

1.  Mr Hansraj Gangaram Ahir (BJP MP from Chandrapur, Maharashtra) - Till the end of Budget Session 2011, his participation tally is:  Debates (70), Private Members Bills (17), Questions (499) - Total tally 586.  Mr Hansraj tops in the total tally and also for introduction of Private Members Bills.  

2.  Mr Anandrao Adsul (Shiv Sena MP from Amravati, Maharashtra) -Till the end of Budget Session 2011, his participation tally is: Debates (23), Private Members Bills (3), Questions (545) - Total 571.  He ranks first in raising Questions in the Lok Sabha.  It may also be noted that he stood first in the earlier 14th Lok Sabha  under 'Questions' category raising 1333 questions.  

3.  Mr S S Ramasubbu (Cong MP from Tirnelveli, Tamilnadu).  Till the end of Budget Session 2011, his tally is: Debates (60), Private Members Bills (0), Questions (472), Total 532.  His attendance is 97%.  He ranks fourth in the overall tally in the current Lok Sabha.  He stands first among Tamilnadu MPs.  

UnSung Heroes - For contribution to the society

1.  Manam Malarattum (meaning 'Let the Mind blossom') - A team of 5 youngsters lead by Saravanan joined together in  1999 to help the poor children of their villages to get into engineering colleges.  Since then, through various sponsorships, have helped more than 10,000, 10th and 12th std children to pass their examinations with good marks, by arranging special coaching classes.   This has enabled 1000 children to get engineering admissions.  They are also supporting 70 students through financial help with the help of sponsors.  As on date, nearly 1200 students of 10th and 12th standard are being supported covering 250 villages of Vellore District. 

2.  Build Future India - Started by a group of Non Resident Indians, lead by Mani engaged themselves in providing education support to the poor and downtrodden. They have supported around 20,00 children spread over 60 schools through various scholarships, books, etc.  They are also now developing 6 schools as model schools in southern Tamilnadu.  They have also adopted one village 'Alathur' to convert into a model village with the support of public and Government Authorities.  As part of this scheme, they have also constructed toilets for 180 houses.  One of the trustees by name Sarathy, has over a period of time, motivated the youth of this village to plant one tree during their birth days.  Now this scheme, has brought nearly 6000 trees in that village.  

3.  Mr Arvind Thyagarajan - A serial inventor, at his young age of 30, has more than 40 patents in his name.  Motivated by Dr Abdul Kalam, during his college days, he started his inventions and patented them.  After his graduation, when he met Sri Sathya Sai Baba, he advised Arvind to stay back in India, sacrificing a lucrative US job, and to spend his time to invent gadgets that can be of help to poor and downtrodden.  Recently, he has introduced a 'stethoscope' like instrument to detect cardiac murmurs.  This is the first of its kind in the world.  Through this gadget, many poor people got their cardiac problems identified at no expense and their lives were saved.
