[India_Vision_2020] Re: Honouring of Top performing MPs of Lok Sabha - Sansad Ratna Award
Hi,
I compliment the Primepoint Foundation for the initiative of honouring top performing MPs. This year, with Mr Gopal Krishna Gandhi gracing the occasion should be a further motivator to all concerned and inspiring to the future leaders.
I have a few suggestions to make: is it possible, through the participating MPs to impress upon the need to ensure that there is at least quorum in the Parliament and attendance by a majority? Second, can we appeal through them to all the parliamentarians to conduct themselves with dignity and decorum consistent with the sanctity of the august house? Resorting to frequent walkouts, running to the well of the house too often, obstructing the proceedings and dozing off during the deliberations and similar acts make the citizens lose faith in the system. They should also study the bills introduced in the Parliament even if they belong to the ruling party or its allies; for when a crucial bill is passed it affects the entire country and not one political group. take for example when the SEZ bill was passed in 2005, no discussions took place. It was passed in FIVE minutes.
Rgds,
T R Bhat

[India_Vision_2020] Honouring of Top performing MPs of Lok Sabha - Sansad Ratna Award
Hi all
India is a great and largest democracy in the world. While, even the small countries are not able to maintain their democracy, India has been successfully maintaining the democracy in the post independence era, braving all challenges.
In the democracy, the role of legislators become very important. There are many criticisms about the negative side of the legislative and parliamentary functioning and their members. At the same time, there are many legislators and Parliamentarians, who silently contribute to the Nation by participating in the House effectively and taking up the issues. Generally, they go unnoticed and unsung.
Keeping this in mind, Prime Point Foundation has been honouring the top performing Parliamentarians from 2009. We published a special issue of ezine PreSense titled 'Celebrate Democracy' in March 2009. In that issue, we featured 5 top performing Parliamentarians of 14th Lok Sabha and published their exclusive interviews.
In May 2010 and May 2011, we honoured personally the top performers of Loks Sabha Mr Anandrao Adsul, Mr Hansraj Gangaram Ahir, Mr S S Ramasubbu in the presence of galaxy of eminent persons of Chennai City. The purpose is to salute such good performers and to motivate others too.
Please visit our site www.sansadratna.in to look at the past events.
There are four important aspects, by which we can assess the performance of the MPs. (1) Questions raised by them during the Question Hour, (2) Debates participated (bills, budget discussions, issues under Rule 377, 193, zero hour discussions, etc), (3) Introduction of Private Member bills and (4) Attendance.
From the data released by the Lok Sabha Secretariat, till now, the following four MPs have done excellently well.
1. Mr Hansraj Gangaram Ahir (BJP MP) - No 1 in introduction of Private Bills
2. Mr Anandrao Adsul, )Shiv Sena MP) - No 1 in raising Questions. (He was No 1 in 14th Lok Sabha also)
3. Mr Arun Ram Megwal (BJP MP) - No 1 in Debates and 100% attendance
4. Mr S S Ramasubbu (Cong MP) - No 1 in Tamilnadu in all areas.
We will be honouring them with 'Sansad Ratna Award' on 14th April 2012 jointly with Indian Institute of Technology, Chennai. Mr Gopalakrishna Gandhi (Former West Bengal Governor and the grandson of Mahatma Gandhi and Rajaji) will preside over the function.
During this occassion, we will also have a National Seminar on 'Youth in Politics and Governance' to create awareness among the students and youth about the Parliamentary system and Governance.
If any member of the group wants to draw the attention of the Lok Sabha through MPs on any issue of public importance, please send a brief note in a single page with full details and contact numbers and address. We will handover your note to the Hon'ble MPs personally during the Award function. Depending on the merit of the issue, they will take up in the appropriate forum. Please send the note before 9th April 2012.

[India_Vision_2020] "Productive work and Reproductive wealth" - Mantra of modernisation [2 Attachments]
[Attachment(s) from Prime Point Srinivasan included below]
hi all
I am sharing a text of the speech delivered by Dr Y S Rajan (presently Honorary Distinguished Professor of ISRO and Co-Author of the book India 2020 with Dr Abdul Kalam) during CS Memorial lecture held at Chennai on 2nd March 2012.
As you know. Mr C Subramaniam (popularly known as CS), was the Governor of Maharashtra and Chairman of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan. He has served Jawaharlal Nehru and Indira Gandhi Ministry as a cabinet minister, in-charge of Finance, Science & Technology, Agriculture, Industries, etc. He was a great visionary and brought lot of innovative schemes to develop India. He is the architect of Indian Green Revolution. Dr Manmohan Singh has also worked with Mr CS as bureaucrat.
During 1972, when India was under License Raj and singing the song of Socialism, Mr CS boldly wrote in his book "India of my dreams" as follows:
"Work has to be productive; creation of wealth that is reproductive"
In those days, earning profit was considered as sin, he boldly encouraged that every work had to be productive and also encouraged reproductive wealth. Now his mantra of modernisation is being hailed as a great slogan.
Even way back in 1937, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru said that the future belonged to those, who made friends with science. He wanted to eradicate poverty through economic solutions derived from science. What Panditji visualised is happening now. Today, science and technology plays a greater role in developing the economy and eradicating the poverty.
Dr Y S Rajan in his speech interestingly, brought out some of the forgotten heroes and episodes. I am sharing his text of the speech and the connected ppt for the information of members, particularly the younger generation.

[India_Vision_2020] SRPS Award 2012 (Award for Socially Relevant Products/Services) [1 Attachment]
[Attachment(s) from Prime Point Srinivasan included below]
hi
(Pl circulate among the people who are eligible to file the nomination - last date for filing nomination is 20th march 2012)
Prime Point Foundation was founded in 1998 to promote communication awareness. The Foundation has been conducting various events and managing various online communication groups. Many eminent and nationally well known persons are also associated with this Foundation and groups.
For the past two years, Prime Point Foundation has been honouring outstanding Parliamentarians and UnSung Heroes for their excellent performance and achievement. This is the only organisation in India, which honours the Parliamentarians for their performance inside the House.
The reports and photos of the earlier events of 2010 and 2011 can be seen in the following links.
There are many Indian companies and organisations who are having world-class socially relevant products / services. From our experience, we find that most of them do not document well and showcase their achievements. Because of this, they are unable to participate in the International Awards also.
In order to create an awareness about proper documentation and showcasing the achievements, from this year onwards, Prime Point Foundation will be recognising such achievers during the Annual Awards function.
We have now introduced a scheme calling for nominations from such companies / organistions who have successfully marketed a commercially viable and socially relevant product / services. We attach herewith the contest rules and guidelines. This is the first of its kind in India to honour the people with SRPS.
We have designed the contest rules, to match the international standards and also to suit Indian needs, in consultation with Dr Y S Rajan (co-author of the book India 2020 with Dr Abdul Kalam) and Mr Bish Mukherjee (Coordinator for Gold Quill Award 2012 of International Association of Business Communicators for Asian Region).
As per the guidelines, Work Plan and Work Sample will have equal weightage. The Award function will be held on 14th April 2012 at Indian Institute of Technology, Chennai.
The last date for submission of entries is 20th March 2012. A panel of eminent experts will evaluate the entries. There will be two Awards for outstanding entries. The entries, scoring more than 75% mark will be given 'Certificate of Merit'.
The Awards will be presented by the outstanding Indian Parliamentarians, who will also be honoured during that function in the presence of eminent persons.
The guidelines can also downloaded from the following link.
