Hi,
I compliment the Primepoint Foundation for the initiative of honouring top performing MPs. This year, with Mr Gopal Krishna Gandhi gracing the occasion should be a further motivator to all concerned and inspiring to the future leaders.
I have a few suggestions to make: is it possible, through the participating MPs to impress upon the need to ensure that there is at least quorum in the Parliament and attendance by a majority? Second, can we appeal through them to all the parliamentarians to conduct themselves with dignity and decorum consistent with the sanctity of the august house? Resorting to frequent walkouts, running to the well of the house too often, obstructing the proceedings and dozing off during the deliberations and similar acts make the citizens lose faith in the system. They should also study the bills introduced in the Parliament even if they belong to the ruling party or its allies; for when a crucial bill is passed it affects the entire country and not one political group. take for example when the SEZ bill was passed in 2005, no discussions took place. It was passed in FIVE minutes.
Rgds,
T R Bhat
