[India_Vision_2020] Corporate and Media Communication are extremely tainted - Justice G N Ray, Chairman of Press Council of India

dear friends

In an exclusive podcast interview with me for PodUniversal, Hon'ble Justice G N Ray, Chairman, Press Council of India said that Corporate and Media Communication are  extremely tainted in India. He quoted the examples of some of the media houses entering into agreement with corporate bodies in exchange of shares.

He also quoted the example of f Reliance Power, who released the shares at Rs.425/- during IPO.  The share price fell down within a week and now it is quoted only less than Rs.200/-.  Justice Ray expressed his deep concern over the hype created during IPO by the media to hike the price.

In a freewheeling conversation with me, he also shared his frank views on freedom of speech, cross media ownership and Paid News syndrome.

Justice G N Ray inaugurated the National Media Conference 2010 at Mount Abu on 18th Sep.  After the inauguration, I recorded an exclusive interview with him at Mount Abu.  Please listen to his exclusive interview (8 minutes) in the following link.

Since the views were expressed by a respected  person of the stature of the Supreme Court Judge and now the Chairman of Press Council of India, both the corporates and media houses need to introspect immediately to bring back the past glory.

I invite members to share their views.
