[India_Vision_2020] 10th day early morning update from fasting venue

hi all

I append below the update received from the fasting venue at Chennai.  Today is the 10th day of Anna ji's fast.  Along with Anna ji, thousands of young and old Satyagrahis  are fasting across the country.  The Government is also not caring for the lives of thousands of citizens.  Probably this is the first time, middle class youngsters have come on street with tricolour and chanting Jai Hind.

At Chennai, 21 people (including a middle aged lady and 81 year old gentleman) are on fasting sayagraha.  Their health is causing concern.  They also refuse to give up fast.  One of our Action 2020 team group 'Nallore Vattam' has started indefinite fast from day before yesterday in another part of Chennai.  We are getting report from across the nation that even villagers are joining the protest.

As already announced many of our India Vision members are also skipping one meal every day, to give emotional support to satyagrahis.

The nation is facing this situation for the first time, with many people coming out on streets and media sparing most of their columns only for this issue. For the past ten days, we are hearing on Jai Hind and Vandemataram in National channels.   This indicates, how people are frustrated with the huge corruption prevailing in our system.

As I used to write often in these groups, every time, when India is facing crisis and challenges, India has emerged much more stronger and vibrant.  Let us salute Anna ji and thousands of Sayagrahis who are fasting indefinitely for their commitment to the nation.

Alert from the fasting venue:

No. 153 LB rd, near Adayar Bus Depot,

Next to HDFC bank,

Thiruvanmiyur, Chennai

One of the indefinite fasters, Shiv Elango (34) of Makkal Shakti who was fasting in support of IAC-Chennai is very sick. 81-year-old Appaindruvel is becoming less mobile and Dr.Arunchalam said that he was concerned. Both of them have refused to give up their fast. Rest of the 18 fasters are also showing rapid signs of deterioration of health. Several reported diarrhoea, abdominal cramps and other symptoms.

We at India Against Corruption-Chennai are also extremely concerned about Anna Hazare's failing health.

We are surprised and shocked that Government has not bothered to respond to his Satyagraha and those of others around the country. We are also appalled by the irresponsible statements from the Government about Anna's fast. Along with Anna Hazare, there are scores of Anna Hazares, young and old, around the country who are fasting along with him. Their health and well-being is a concern. Yesterday, one indefinite faster died in the country. Do we have to wait for more Satyagrahis to sacrifice their lives for this cause? Is the Government willing to have these Satyagrahis blood on their hands? Is this the state of our Nation where common citizen has no power to voice their opinion on issues of the state?

We appeal to the media to highlight this issue and demand that government introduce the Jan Lokpal immediately in the Parliament.

Jai Hind!!!
