In the recent days, we find lot of debates about the reluctant attitude of Banks in providing education loans to deserving students. Every now and then, we have been taking up important common issues through this network and trying to find some best solutions.
Since, many of our young students will be preparing for higher education, we thought of taking up this issue of 'Education Loan' through our networks. We will also be focussing on this theme in our Jan 2010 issue of ezine PR-e-Sense. .
We approached Dr K C Chakrabarty, Deputy Governor of Reserve Bank for an exclusive interview. On behalf of India Vision Group and Action 2020 Team, i interviewed him on telephone for podcast. In a freewheeling and frank conversation, he assured, "No deserving student should be deprived of higher education for want of funds'. This is an encouraging statement from Reserve Bank.
He has also nominated a Nodal Officer for the purpose of Education Loan at the Central Office of RBI. He also requested us to bring to the notice of Nodal Officer where deserving students were denied education opportunities for want of funds, when they approached banks. Tomorrow, we will be releasing a survey link to get those details.
Meanwhile, we are also working out whether a Seminar could be held at Chennai jointly with Consumers Association of India to sensitise Bankers and Students on this important Scheme.
