[India_Vision_2020] Serve India [1 Attachment]

[Attachment(s) from Team Everest included below]

Hi all,

Team Everest is launching its new initiative 'SERVE INDIA' on Oct-2. The idea of this initiative is to develop India through volunteerism.

Our focus will be on:

1) Creating awareness on importance of volunteering

2) 12/365 -> Motivating people to volunteer at least once in a month

3) Creating awareness on how to do Social service without money

4) Creating awareness that there is  no age bar for social service

To know more about Serve India, please visit http://teameverestindia.org/aboutserveindia.html

The idea is to motivate an individual to give back to the society in his/her own possible ways. The Serve India lunch function invitation is attached with this email. Those who are in Chennai can join this function and grace the occasion. We have some interesting chief and special guests for this function.

The Everest Serve India team is planning to publish a book on 'How you can make a difference?'. The plan is to have 1000 ideas in this book which a person can do to make a difference in this society. This book can be a reference for those who are passionate to help others but do not know how to help! You can share your idea in this link - http://teameverestindia.org/shareyouridea.html

Thanks all.

Thanks & Regards,
Kartheeban.

Re: [India_Vision_2020] Common Wealth Game => Common Wealth Shame => Common Wealth Pride

Mr Narayanan: I totally agree with yr views.India has a very tiny first world inhabited by Narayana Muthysa slightly larger second world and a very large third world. As a senior official of OC said the 'my standard of hygiene is different from yours and theirs'.There is no one national standard of anything. We must accept that we are a third world country with fourth rate standards.Politicians belogn to the nether world.
Have lived in Indonesia,Thailand and seen  and reported  upon  war ravaged Vietnam rise from the ashes.Thier infrastructure quality is in spite of very high corruption levels is world class.Indonesia at one  time  black listed India from bidding for nay infrastructure and other contracts because Indian private sector frims could not adhere to the construction deadlines:Tiny, friendly Laos foregin minister confided to me that his Govt wants to award most contracts to India but Indian firms unable to keep to deadlines and he was under pressure not to award contracts to indian firms.
The day construction of infrastructure starts a sign board goes up announcing the date for its opening  and rarely this deadline is missed.
In India deadlines are moving targets.

Hi all

India needed some crisis always in the past to enter into  the next level to get global appreciation.  If you look at the past history, when India was facing acute food crisis in 1960s, C Subramanian  brought 'Green Revolution' and self sufficiency in food.  When India pledged its gold openly in early 1990s, to resolve financial crisis and balance of payment, Narasimha Rao  brought in 'Economic reforms' and we improved our financial resources.

When the Election Commission was facing crisis, Seshan showed the powers of Election Commission to set right the irregularities.  When many Trade Unions opposed computerization in financial institutions in 1990s, N Vittal, then Central Vigilance Commissioner,  enforced all the banks to introduce technology with his one signature.

When the developed nations refused space technology and engines to India, after Pokran I, the team under the leadership of Dr Kalam started developing our own indigenous technology and machines for space.  Now, we are one of the top countries in this technology in the world.

When crisis deepened about the customer grievances in Banks and Insurance, Ombudsman Schemes were introduced to resolve the disputes quickly.  Similarly, RTI Act, Right to Education Act, IT Act, declaration of assets by ministers and judges  were all introduced due to one crisis or other.

If you look at our past, every crisis has helped us to go to the next level.  That has helped us to get positioned well at global level.  India has always been resilient, be it reservation issue, ayodhya issue, communal clashes, natural calamity, etc.   India has always emerged much more stronger out of every crisis.  We have also learnt to manage the crisis well.

In the same way, Common Wealth Games become Common Wealth Shame due to corruption and mismanagement by Kalmadi and his team.  Now that the PM has taken over personally, I am confident that this 'shame' will be converted into a 'pride'.

Every crisis has taught us great lessons.  After the CWGs are completed, the Government should initiate legal action and punish those who brought shame to us.  Only then, such shameful activities will not recur.  Few individuals cannot bring down the pride  of billion people.

Re: [India_Vision_2020] Common Wealth Game => Common Wealth Shame => Common Wealth Pride

Dear Mr. Sreenivasan,

An individual can learn from his/her mistake but not the nation. We have experts in all fields and if the responsibility is given they will definitely lead our nation towards target with minimum or without mistake. But they are rubber stamps here. They have to take the advise from the selfish politicians and hence all such things are happening. Now I remember a quote published in one of the British daily, about the first election conducted by our India. It was " We (British) fools are electing a wise guy to rule us whereas in India wise people are electing fools to rule them". Kindly be proud that we and our politicians are still proving it.

Note: Your optimistic expectation about the action going to be taken by our Government is appreciable.

Regards,
I.Venkatesan

Hi sir,
Do you think this is because of lack of ignorance of how to organize CWG i don't think so it is due to irresponsibility and our politicians want to earn money on each and every place the best example is Mumbai TAJ attacks if govt provided good Bullet proof jackets to soldiers on that i thing we might have most of them with us today.

Cheers!!

Very valid points have been raised both for and against India. The corrupt people need to be taken care of and learn lessons of their lives. Generally God alone is enough to punish such corrupt people.

Dear Indians,

I believe that India has a greet potential in it and many of the Indians are mind savvy and by the doing of few corrupted people shame should not be blamed on all India . By this instance we should learn a lesson that by deputing wrong and corrupted persons on nation's responsibility will definitely bring a shame for us. We should be for careful in selecting our nation's representatives.

It is not the matter that why India is hosting CWG, Until and unless we organize this kind of events we will not be able to realize that what is the image of INDIA in other country and there mind.

It is the learning lesson and thanks to CWG that we are able to find culprit and corrupted Fox hiding behind sheep's crowd.
