Hindu Business line Club is one of the initiatives by The Hindu Group to bring together all the educational institutions and the corporate managers/experts. They take the experts to the Colleges for interaction session with students. On 12th April, they had organised a get-together of all the member colleges (125 members covering 15,000 students) and the resource persons. Mr T V Mohandas Pai, Director of Infosys Group talked on the HR Challenges facing the country.
Mr Mohandas Pai said that India's GDP will touch US $2.5 trillion within 10 years, as against the present level of $ 1.5 trillion. That means, he said, there would be more of demand for the skilled professionals in the coming years. This has placed a greater resopnsibility on the Corporates and educational instituions to develop the required skills amongst youth.
Mr N Ram, Editor-in-Chief of The Hindu group expressed his concern over the decline in reach of traditional media due to the enormous growth of new media. He said, presently, people are not willing to pay for news.
Mr N Ram was also expressing his concern lack of soft skills amongst the youth. He said soft skills should start from communication. Lack of soft skills lead to unemployment, he said.
