I had written three days back about the alarming situation in India and lack of awareness about heart diseases. I had also explained  as to how the younger generation is prone for heart disease, due to their change of lifestyle and food habits, mental pressure, lack of exercise, lack of good sleep, etc.  The earlier posting may be read at the following link:

Today (27th Sep 09) is the World Heart Day. As promised by me in my earlier mail, I have now released a very useful podcast of Dr Satish Gupta, who has done extensive research on heart disease with the support of DRDO and Govt. of India. Dr Abdul Kalam was showing keen interest in the studies.

Dr Satish Gupta explains the reasons for artery blocks and he has also given lot of tips to prevent or manage the heart diseases. Please listen to the podcast interview in the following link. Every anecdote has been written in Tamil in a very interesting manner like a story, so that young school children get attracted to that. All the 23 authors are working in different projects of the company at different locations and in different countries. They have also not met each other earlier. They compiled the book using the email and chat and other technology tool. I was also present during the launch function. Out of 23 authors, only few people could attend the function, as all others were in different parts of the country/world. Interestingly, even those authors who were present there met for the first time, though they were closely working together to compile this book. :) The members of Team Everest operating in US, mobilised funds to the extent of Rs.70,000/- through some cricket tournament to print these books. amazing, Mr Srinivasan has impressed upon the use of technology here and rightly so. Young Indians everywhere around the world are so enterprising that nothing is impossible, if we set our minds to achieve it. Congrats to Team Everest in managing to co ordinate and group together such a bunch of enthusiastic Indians and making this book possible. It is indeed a humongous task but the results will soon be for everyone to see.

Today is the 90th birthday of Prof. Stish Dhawan, who was the architect of Indian space research.  Prof. Vikram Sarabai was the greatest visionary and he visualised how Indian space science should be developed.  After Vikram Sarabai, Prof. Satish Dhawan created systems. 

Todays newspapers carry the news item that NASA scientists have appreciated Indian space scientists for their wonderful achievement of taking pictures through Chandrayan.  If we have  achieved many milestones in Indian space science, it was because of the strong vision of Vikram Srabai and the systems laid by Satish Dhawan.  We are now at par with global standards in space technology.  We are proud of our Indian space scientists.  

On this day, let us remember Prof. Satish Dhawan for his wonderful ontributions to the Nation.  Please read the article by Prof. Y S Rajan in the following link. Prof. Rajan is also the co-author of the book India 2020 with Dr Abdul Kalam.
