dear friends
I am very happy to inform you that Mr S Ramakrishnan, Director General of C-DAC has also joined our India Vision Group as member. We have already many eminent personalities on board. Mr Ramki is at C-DAC's Head Quarters at Pune.
In my earlier mail today, I have released a podcast interview with Mr Ramakrishnan. Mr Ramakrishnan, popularly known as Ramki is a very well known Technocrat in India. He is a pioneer in the Computer Neworking and Grid Computing technologies. Even before the internet technology came to India, he was involved in networking all the educational institutions through 'ernet', as the National Project Director. He was also heading the Media Lab. Now he is heading the C-DAC as Director General. He is now presently associated with the building up of next generation Super Computer and Garuda Grid Computing. C-DAC has placed India in the top few countries on the technical capabilities.
Through his guidance, C-DAC has also released the Indianised version of Linux what is known as BOSS (Bharath Operating Systems Solutions). This is an operating system and is provided free of cost. They are now encouraging the open source software. You can visit their site http://www.cdac.in and look at their achievements. If you want to know more about BOSS, please visit http://www.bosslinux.in
C-DAC has also released forensic software solutions to help the Police authorities to investigate cyber crimes.
C-DAC has more than 2000 technical experts working on various unique projects. C-DAC is one of the "Unsung Heroes" amongst our Indian Institutions. When India was denied Super Computers, C-DAC developed our own indigenous PARAM Super Computers in late 80s and proved our technical marvel.
Let us give a 'standing ovation' to C-DAC and the dedicated team of technocrats / Scientists, who are contributing silently to our Nation. C-DAC is India's pride. On behalf of the Moderators of this group and partner organisations, we are happy to welcome Mr Ramki on board.
