Dear friends, this is to inform all, how Dr. Abdul Kalam's Birth
day has been celebrated on Social Service activities for the last
four years by Nallorevattam (circle of good people), Kodambakkam,
Chennai 24, where I am a regular visitor.
A drawing competition and an essay writing competition were
conducted for the public and students on the topic: "My Suggestions
& Contribution towards Kodambakkam 2020" and more than 200 students
participated on it.
As Dr. Abdul Kalam's birthday, 15th October falls on wednesday this
year, total activities were done bifurcating entire activities on
two days - for the convenience of the participants.
On 12-10-2008, Sunday morning more than 140 volunteers took part on
the 3 hour well planned (war type) social service actions (from 7am -
10 am) (every year at different localities) to illustrate that a
radical change is possible if there is a will: by executing
activities – viz. cleaning garbage on 18 streets of Kodambakkam,
Chennai 24, planting of trees, inscribing golden words on walls,
census about the status of the people in that locality, free medical
check up and screening camp for diabetes, awareness exhibition,
collection of old cloths for orphanages etc. There was an group
appraisal about the activities before distribution of certificates
by Shri. Muthusamy, DSP/T.Nagar.
On 15-10-2008, an exhibition on the sayings of Kalam, and various
activities organized by Nallorevattam on the last three years were
placed in the Corporation Auditorium, Kodambakkam. There was a
meeting on the topic: "Declaring of the Architects of Kodambakkam
2020" between 18-20 hours along with the cultural programmes on the
ideologies of the Kalam - conducted by Ezhuchi Kalai Kuzhu of
Nallorevattam.
Not only the chief guest Shri.Vekadesan, Auditor but everyone
attended the meeting appreciated on the efforts taken towards Dr.
Abdul kalam's vision 2020.
