Dear India Vision 2020 Group Members, Why children are wasting the food? Is it due to taste? Is it due to poor quality of cooking? The cooks can be educated and trained properly with the help of nutrition experts. Further the experts can give food receipes as per the likings of the school children. Why all children are preparing noodles, priyani and parota or some flavour? Likewise, within the available resources let us prepare healthy tasty food as per children's likings. Then the food waste will be minimised. Dhanapal D Geo Resource Centre

Dear Velmati, waste management has been a great problem evrywjere. However if the same waste can be made productive by using simple technology.. May be on school campus a wormicultuer bed can be prepared ..and fertiliser that will come out will be used for school garden . Worms can be sold to farmers . Of course Though It sounds simple how teachers , students take the idea can not be predicted. Yet I feel It would be a great experiment. Regards, Meena

Dear all, I am working on a rural school sanitation assignment in some of the schools in West Godavari district of AP. Mid day meal waste dumping by the students all over the school premises is one of the prominent problems observed in many schools. We, under Tapana Foundation is working on the alternatives to solve this problem.
If providing containers in school to allow the students to dump the waste meal is a solution, then what kind of containers or vessels can be used (easy washing/sustainable approach)?
If the neighboring villagers are not willing to take the waste for their cattle, is there any better solution?
If any of you are employing other feasible methods, kindly let me know. Regards, Manohari
