Involvement of the Staff, Students (Seniors - of Classes 5th, 6th & 7th) of the school and the elders of the village to find a solution to the problem is a practical option. The solution should emerge democratically and should involve all the concerned. The assistance of Mandal officials and Extension officials of Department of Agriculture and Horticulture in finding a solution to the problem could be decided. Even for generation of alternate source of energy like bio-gas could be considered. While attempting this, along with considering the solutions suggested by other members of this group, this problem simultaneouly offers opportunity to take up projects like health, hygiene and adoption of appropriate technology to start with for the school and also for the poorer section of the society. Basic (?) issues of cleanliness, hygiene etc like washing hands before and after eating, keeping the school/living surroundings clean, encouraging toilet habbits, use and maintenance of hygienic toilet, personal hygiene etc could be attempted which goes a long way in ensuring a safe, healthy and strong students and community.

Dear India Vision 2020 Group Members,
Why children are wasting the food? Is it due to taste? Is it due to poor quality of cooking? The cooks can be educated and trained properly with the help of nutrition experts. Further the experts can give food recipes as per the likings of the school children. Why most of the children are liking noodles, briyani and parota or some flavour? Likewise, within the available resources let us prepare healthy, tasty, organic food as per children's likings. Then the food waste will be minimised.
