UNESCO's International Leadership Training Programme, 6 - 14 August 2010, USA The programme is organized based on a three-fold understanding that the "every new generation of human rights builds on the work of those who came before it." Secondly, in the interconnected world, there is likelihood of impact being created when actions take place in one part of the world and end up influencing other people in other regions; therefore, there is a necessity to create solidarity through a network in this regard. Thirdly, as future belongs to young leaders, it needs to be ensured that their efforts remain effective. Focus on young leaders can create long-term and dynamic impact for building the society in future. "Accordingly, the Forum will place premium on nurturing and developing young people for local and global leadership and building bridges and a network of solidarity, which promote the sharing of experiences and understanding of, and provide an impetus for, the empowerment of young leaders that will enable them to play a crucial and constructive role in the development of human rights in their communities and the world at large." UNESCO's International Leadership Training Programme to celebrate 62 years of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights Young people working in the field of human rights can participate in the 6th Annual International Leadership Training Programme: A Global Intergenerational Forum, hosted by the UNESCO Chair on the occasion of completing 62 years of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. will be held from 6 August 2010 to 14 August 2010 at the University of Connecticut in the United States.
The main objectives of the Forum are: "involve young leaders in finding solutions to emerging human rights problems; nurture individuals to be effective leaders in the field of human rights;
promote the sharing of experiences and understanding; provide an impetus for, and the empowerment of, youth leaders that will enable them to play a crucial and constructive role in the development of
human rights in their communities; build a network of solidarity among future leaders in the field of human rights; hone the skills and expand the knowledge relevant to human rights practice; and provide tools and a platform for open debates about policies, programmes, activities and processes necessary for human rights leadership."
All selected participants will be provided with travel, meals and housing during the Programme. However, there is no travel support or airfare. Participants will be issued an invitation letter and they
