Re: [India_Vision_2020] Any good solutions for keeping school premises clean?

Dear friends,

This is another example of who the public funds get wasted. I am asociated with a few schools in Uttarakhand and I find that the number of students in the schools are much higher than the actual who come to schools regularly i/c examination days.
Now the food that is provided is to attract the child to school and if the food gets wasted then the purpose is defeated.
I would suggest that there be a mechanism by which the left over food is allowed to be taken home by the student(s) so that the same is utilised instead of throwing it.

Let us make students to learn that nothing is to be wasted in the plate. Take only as much as u can eat and if you leave carryit with you back home.

Dear Velmati,

waste management has been a great problem evrywjere.
However if the same waste can be made productive by using simple technology.. May be on school campus a wormicultuer bed can be prepared ..and fertiliser that will come out will be used for school garden . Worms can be sold to farmers .
Of course Though It sounds simple how teachers , students take the idea can not be predicted. Yet I feel It would be a great experiment.

Subject: [India_Vision_2020] Any good solutions for keeping school premises clean?

Dear all,
I am working on a rural school sanitation assignment in some of the schools in West Godavari district of AP. Mid day meal waste dumping by the students all over the school premises is one of the prominent problems observed in many schools. We, under Tapana Foundation is working on the alternatives to solve this problem.

If providing containers in school to allow the students to dump the waste meal is a solution, then what kind of containers or vessels can be used (easy washing/sustainable approach)?

If the neighboring villagers are not willing to take the waste for their cattle, is there any better solution?

If any of you are employing other feasible methods, kindly let me know.
Regards,
Manohari
