Subject: [India_Vision_ 2020] Dr Abdul Kalam can be appointed by Govt. of India or UN as a Goodwlll Ambassador
dear friends
On 1st May, I had an opportunity to participate in a closed programme at Pollachi along with our India Vision Partner groups. We had an opportunity to listen and interact with Former Indian President Dr Kalam.
Even today, there is a heavy security to Dr Kalam and his convoy still looks like a Presidential convoy. On our return to Coimbatore after the event, we asked one of the Policeman on the road side (as if we donot know anything) the reasons for such security. He immediately responded, "President Kalam" is coming in this route. We also saw on either side of the road, villagers standing to have a glimpse of 77 year old Dr Abdul Kalam. Still he remains as President in the minds of many people.
Wherever he goes, he draws a huge crowd, particularly of youngsters and children. In public meetings, the hall gets filled up even one or two hours before the scheduled time.
Even in foreign countries, he draws a huge crowd of people (not from Indian alone, also from the locals).
This made me to think further. Now he is touring the country and abroad out of is passion. This galvanises the entire youth towards National building. I find that youngsters are charged with more commitment.
My suggestion is that he can be appointed by the Government of India as "Goodwill Ambassador" of our country for his life time. (Manekshaw was conferred with 'Field Marshal' for his life time in India) Definitley, this will enhance the image of our country across the world. Indian Govt. can make use of his 'charisma' for the advantage of the country.
Even United Nations can think of appointing him as "Goodwill Ambassador" to spread the message of peace across the globe. After Mahatma Gandhi, only Dr Kalam has been attracting the youth without being in power or position.
I invite your views.
