Re: [India_Vision_2020] Mr Navin Chawla controversy - How to appoint politically neutral Election Commissioners?

Respected Sir,
I agree to al three of them. their ideas r perfect. we need our Central executive to implement these ideas so that people of India will have a sense of respect and dignity and trust in those who are put to such high constitutional posts .

dear friends

The recent controversy over Mr Navin Chawla, Election Commissioner of India has thrown a new debate as to how to appoint politically neutral persons for top constitutional posts, to retain the high reputation of such bodies.

For this purpose, I took a podcast interview with three eminent persons.

1.  Mr Era Chezhian - A Senior Parliamentarian - He was a member of Dinesh Goswami Committee, along with Mr N K P Salve, Mr L K Advani, Mr Somnath Chatterje and others in 1990..  The committee recommended procedures for appointing Election Commissioners, in consultation with Leader of the Opposition in Lok Sabha and the Chief Justice of India.

2.  Mr N Vittal - Former Central Vigilance Commissioner of India - As per the directions of the Supreme Court, he was the first CVC to be appointed through  consensus by the then Prime Minister Mr Vajpayee , Leader of the opposition Mr Sharath Pawar  and the Home Minister Mr L K Advani.

3.  Mr T S Krishnamoorthy - Former Cheif Election Commissioner of India - He was hailed by all political parties for conducting General Elections in 2004 smoothly and he made lot of recommendations for Electoral reforms.  -  He is of the view that Election Commissioners are to be appointed through consensus by a panel consistng of Prime Minister, Leader of the Opposition, Speaker of the Lok Sabh, Chairman of the Rajya Sabha and Chief Justice of India.

Please listen to  their views in the  podcast in the following link
