Mr. Yadav says "I have followed organic farming, besides suitable varieties, timely sowing, optimum plant population, balanced nutrition, proper water management, early weed control and pests and disease control. The record production of mango and coconut was also due to application of organic manures". In his farm he has the 400 years old mango tree which gives the yield of 23456 mangos. Silent rural revolution at Kanchipuram and Thiruvallur Districts of Tamilnadu by NAF

He enquired the women who were assembled in the hut and asked one women to read a newspaper. She started reading the paper in loud voice. He asked her to open another page and read? She opened and happily read the newspaper fluently. Dr. Kalam enquired since when she knows how to read and write. She replied that she knows from the last 5 months and her face was radiating into glow of knowledge because she has become a literate person.
But she wanted to tell something to him, yes, Dr. Kalam patiently heard. She told "Sir I am empowered, because now I know how to read and write; now I have a clean toilet in my home and now I am earning more than earlier due to help of Self-Help-Group loans. Not only me, but all the women in this village are empowered".
It was a happy moment for the entire self-help group members of that village and they all took photographs with him. It was because of the intervention of NAF which has taken up Computerized Functional Literacy Program in its villages.
Tamil Software for the same has been provided by Tata Consultancy Services. Classes were held in the night in the hamlets at their convenient timings. Duration of the course is 90 days. So far, more than 4200 illiterates (comprising of about 80% women) have become functionally literate after completion of the course. More than 200 persons are currently undergoing the training. Dr. Kalam congratulated the instructors and neo-literates on making progress.
and much more in this issue.
