Indian Voters will be participating in General Elections in the third week of April or early May 09. Already political parties have started their exercises for alliances and campaign. Indian General Elections will be the largest Democratic exercise in the world with the registered voters of around 700 million.
Out of this, it is estimated that around 15 to 20% youth ( 18 years) are joining as new voters. It is also estimated that more than 40 to 45% of the eligible voters in India are under the age group of 35. Presently, Internet and Social Media have emerged as a powerful communication tool amongst the youth. Further more than 350 million mobiles are in use in India. Youth population will definitely make an impact in the election process.
