dear friends
In the mega hype of 'Slumdog', another Oscar Award for an India themed documentary "Smile PInki' has gone to back stage. This documentary film got the 'Best Documentary (Short) Award'. This is about the tale of a Uttar Pradesh based girl Pinki, who fought against the social stigma of 'cleft-lip'.
The girl underwent a simple surgery with the help of a NGO 'Smile Train', which funded her surgery and her visit to Los Angels. The surgery was performed by Dr Subodh K Singh. After the surgery, Pinki's life was changed.
This documentary was directed by Emmy-award winning Megan Mylan, the film was shot in Mirzapur and Varanasi of Uttar Pradesh.
It seems the documentary portrays the commitement and the passion of the social workers and the doctor in providing re-life to the girl.
